Keeping true to the party spirit gods, La Tasca was home for us for a night. If this is how the Spaniards party, we have got to book some flights very soon!
La Tasca is actually located near the MCI center in downtown Washington D.C. It’s a great Spanish Tappas Bar & Restaurant. The Sangria is abundant, the four course meals are plentiful, and the all-woman Salsa/Jazz band is imported directly from New York.
Not only did our waiter treat us like royalty, he graciously put up with us when we turned juvenile deliquents after midnight. It probably didn’t help that we kept trying to get him sloshed by attempting to refill his own Champagne chute each time he came to check up on us. We sat on throw pillows that served well for a small pillow fight that broke out at 1am. About 2am we were all very happily drinking out of bottles, dancing with our girlfriends, hitting on other men’s wives, and causing a raucous disorder that surely had it not been for La Tasca’s classy yet inviting settings, we would surely have been thrown out.
La Tasca took good care of us. Very good, indeed! Such good sentiments are not to be missed with the fact that it took me 17 days to write this review. I’m not sure why it took so long, but I guess after the madness of the holidays and the initial surprise success of Bad Ass Reviews, I thought we needed a moment to catch a breather.
Live and let live could be La Tasca’s motto. Thank you! We’ll be back!
Insider Info Metro accessible! At New Years in Washington D.C. it is notoriously difficult to catch cabs. Driving ain't such a hot idea because the cops are out in full force. Believe me, they're not happy about working New Years. Bustin' drunks is their only source of entertainment, and they do their job very well. How Much Dinero? A meager $60 for live music, full-course meal, and plenty of booze. The twelve of us spent around $100 when it was all said and done.
Fantastic attention and great atmosphere. Best $100 I've spent on New Years. | All these choices! Hmmm...

We have a La Tasca here in Reading (England). Every time I go I have a great time. Good food and fabulous atmosphere.

Thanks for the comment! I think you’re our first oversea’s visitor that’s dropped us a note. Delighted to have you! We’re planning for some nutty reviews in England this year to keep an eye here.

Awesome times…Here’s a tidbit you didn’t know about La Tasca: That night, the waiter took a WHILE to bring out the food. We all figured it was because there were so many people partying. Well, as it turns out there was a technical issue in the kitchen that delayed the food. SO… our awesome waiter brought us a free round of shots, and 3 or 4 free bottles of champagne! THEN…two weeks later we got (in the mail) a thank you and and an apology from the manager explaining the issues during New Years. Included in the card was a $25 gift check for La Tasca good for a year. WOW… Now that’s customer service if I ever saw it. Big thumbs up to La Tasca!

From my experience both in Spain and Spanish taverns outside I must say that night party at Spain cannot be compared to the one you can enjoy at these places. They are fun too, but lack the real spirit
So, get a flight and make a review on Spanish party. I asure you won’t be disappointed.

We can dream can’t? We can dream!
I wouldn’t bet against ya, that’s for sure. Cordoba, Seville, Madrid, Barcelona, sigh. So many places to party, so little time.
Thanks for the comments.

I live in Spain. It’s a constant party…go out for tapas at least 3 times a week. No stress. Customer service isn’t that great though! I’m in Galicia…no bulls or flamenco. Sorry.

Well, if Spain is like Italy, where stuff just closes at noon to 2pm or sometimes randomly at odd hours for no reason, it should be too much of a shock. It’s like they force ya to “relax”.
Tappas every day, wine at noon, I definitely think we’ll be visiting.

I just spent two weeks in the Canary Islands and one of the two restaurants at the hotel was called La Tasca. Nice food. Great waiters!

I’ve spent the last 13 years in the Canary Islands and you’re right, most stuff closes from 1 pm, so you are “forced” to go eat and drink at a leisurly pace. Not that I ever heard anyone complain! It would be hard to re-create or experience that aspect of the culture outside of the country.

It looks like the guy in the far right picture has his thumb in the blonde’s mouth.
